Not everyone knows that one of Cesenatico’s most fascinating symbols was born from the mind of Leonardo da Vinci. It was 1502 when he was asked to design a harbor capable of withstanding tides and time. That drawing is still, to this day, the heart of the city: the Leonardo Canal Port, around which everyday life in Cesenatico revolves.
An anecdote tells that, over the centuries, fishermen have always respected that original layout without ever altering it, almost as if it were an unwritten rule. Even today, the colorful sails of the historic boats from the Maritime Museum float along the canal like pages of a book open to the sea.
This is Cesenatico: a city made of real stories and details that do not seek attention, yet truly deserve it. An ideal destination for those who love the sea, but also places that know how to tell their story with subtlety.
