With over 11 million visitors, 2022 was a record-breaking year for tourism in the Marche region. The latest edition of the BIT, the International Tourism Exchange that recently took place in Milan, saw our region on top thanks to the extraordinary numbers recorded by a sector whose stability has been seriously jeopardized by the pandemic recently. The Fued Immobiliare team participated as a professional in the field, with the intention of going back next year as an exhibitor, at this one or other related fairs. The willingness to invest in promotional showcases of this type is stimulated precisely by the numbers, which promise to be more than positive also for the summer season of 2023. Our agency has already noticed a 50% increase in bookings compared to last year: many tourists choose the Conero Riviera again for their holidays and many others book in advance because they are able to do so with more serenity than in past seasons. We are undeniably satisfied and have very high expectations, considering the trend, also because the area is raising the level of services, as demonstrated by the new national and international air connections active since May. Our team will be ready. We will welcome our guests with the usual enthusiasm and professionalism to let them experience a season that promises to be memorable.
The optimism is valid, the signs of last season are an eloquent indicator: with 2,507,756 arrivals and 11,376,381 people, they represent a record never achieved before, not even before Covid19. Compared to 2019, attendances and arrivals had an increase of 3.68% and 9.39%. And the increase is even more marked if we consider the 2021 data in the middle of the Covid period: +21.58% arrivals and +18.03% attendance. If the restrictions in 2022 caused the presence of foreigners to drop by 12,417 units compared to 2019, on the other hand, Italians’ increased: as many as 988,884 more. Also noteworthy are the data on reception facilities, which indicates to the growth in the demand for accomodations. Accommodation facilities, bed & breakfasts in particular, go from 8,716 units in 2021 to 10,143 in 2022.
The tourists who prefer the Marche Region are still mainly Italian (Lombardia, Emilia Romagna, Lazio, Veneto and recently Umbria thanks to the new road connections), but foreigners also increased significantly: 399,173 arrivals (+69.31% compared to 2021) and 1,714,808 visitors (+65.82%). Germany, the Netherlands, Switzerland, France and Belgium are the nationalities of origin with the most important numbers, but also the ongoing growth of the British (+235%) and Poles (+125%) deserve to be mentioned.
